Who are the Hungry Birds?

Zosia and Esther-Hannah are the founders of Hungry Birds. After joining an inspiring food tour in Vietnam, Zosia decided to bring the concept to Amsterdam in 2013. And her perfect partner-in-crime? Indonesian-Dutch Esther-Hannah who shares her passion for food, travel and people. Over the years, they’ve fed thousands of hungry birds together with their flock of “Mother Birds”. What sets them apart from other food tours? Their deep knowledge of the city, relationships with our local food heroes and their genuine care and love for their guests and what they do.

What's This Experience About?

This experience takes you to around 6 family-owned businesses in De Pijp neighbourhood and sometimes the Canal District. You get to taste a variety of traditional Dutch, Surinamese and Indonesian foods. Hear the inspiring stories of our local food heroes and connect with fellow foodies from all over the world. If you want to understand Amsterdam through food, don’t miss this.

“We have visited Amsterdam many times before, but this was our first food tour in the city. These ladies have done their research and they showed both their love for Amsterdam and their true interest in people. Highly recommend if you want to go off the beaten path!!”

– INL

“Do not miss your chance of an experience of a life time.. Explore Amsterdam in a unique and delicious way! Find out where the locals eat and the backstory of the foods of Amsterdam. It was our favorite thing we did in Amsterdam. Zosia was more than amazing! Thanks again!”

– Chantal

“Taking the time to explore Amsterdam and enjoy all of the food and beer requires a few days at the very least. However, by going on this amazing food tour you can cram a lot of food and culture into 4 hours. You can’t go wrong booking this tour while in Amsterdam. It surely will not disappoint.”

WIA Family

There’s a reason why they call themselves “mother birds”. Poland-born Zosia, Indonesian-Dutch Esther-Hannah, and their team of Hungry Birds, including fellow Singaporean, Charmaine have a way of making you feel cared for, safe, seen and well-fed. Food is a love language. They’re living examples of it. I know — I (Rachael) had the joy of being the first Hungry Bird they took under their wings. They taught me how to truly care for and inspire guests through their genuine hospitality and generosity. It’s exactly what they bring to the table every time. This is why we’re proud and happy to call the Hungry Birds our food family.
