Windmills. Charming Dutch towns. Clogs. Cheese. Apple pie. Or tulip fields. Daffodils. Colours. More apple pie. North Sea.

Meet Leander, a firefighter by day, a countryside and tulip tour guide on his days off. Buckle up and bring on your burning questions. Escape the city with Leander and his team and take a walk on the (wild) countryside or flower fields — your pick.

What's it All About?

Leander, the founder of Amsterdam Countryside Tours, is not your average tour guide. His day job as a firefighter gives him plenty of time to explore other passions like triathlons. Running tours? Not on his radar. It wasn’t until 2018 that he got fired up to start his business after joining a tour in Miami’s art district. Inspired by the local stories he heard and the way his guide expertly connected the group by simply being himself, Leander said to his wife, “I can do this sh*t, too.” Not long later, he did just that and created Amsterdam’s best and most personal countryside and tulip tours, no doubt. Don’t miss this.

“This was beyond a doubt the highlight of our trip. We learned a tremendous amount about Dutch history, especially information about the way the Dutch have managed the water and land ratios over time. To learn this information while over looking the inland lakes that have been created was just incredible. The town of Marken was beautiful and Leander did an astonishing job of bringing everything to life in history. Highly recommended.”

“The best value I’ve ever found in an experience yet. Phillip was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I feel like I walked away with a better understanding of the Netherlands and Holland. Phillip’s varied background gave him an interesting perspective to be able to share what he loves about Amsterdam and the surrounding areas. I definitely felt like I got way more value than what I paid. Excellent tour. Thanks!”

“If you are looking for a tour in Amsterdam look no further. I had the best experience imaginable touring the tulip fields. We were able to see many private fields with beautiful views, varied colors, and different stages of the intricate tulip turnover process. The most impressive part was Leander’s vast knowledge of processing and history atop of his ability to communicate such knowledge.”

WIA Family

Maybe it’s because he’s a firefighter. You can’t help but feel safe around Leander. He’s got everything under control. It’s all cool. When my family came over to visit, I (Alexandra) knew Leander would give them the Dutch cultural experience of their lives. Because of his relationships with everyone — from the cheese to clog makers, flower farmers to windmill wizards — we were able to enter and experience places no one else could. This is exactly why we’re proud to have Leander in our inner circle.
