Yes, absolutely. Since the Self-Guided Food Tour is included with your Go City Pass, it’s one of the most delicious and flexible ways to explore Amsterdam. You’ll discover authentic, family-run food spots that locals love and most visitors completely miss.
Once you reserve your time slot through Go City, you’ll receive a beautifully designed PDF guide straight to your inbox. It includes stories, tips and Google Maps links. You simply show the PDF at each stop, pay for whatever you want to taste and follow the food route at your own pace. There’s no guide and no fixed schedule — just you, the neighbourhood and great food.
Food is not included. Your Go City Pass gives you free access to the PDF guide, but you pay the vendors directly for whatever you choose to eat. Most guests spend around 20–25 euros per person, depending on appetite. The freedom is the fun part — share portions, try everything or only pick your favourites.
No, this tour has no live guide. The PDF guide is your storyteller and navigator. If you prefer someone to lead the way, tell stories and order food for the group, you may enjoy a guided food tour instead. This version is perfect for travellers who like doing things independently.
Start anytime between 11:30 AM and 2:30 PM. This gives you full access to all vendors and plenty of time before the final stall closes.
Yes, you’ll need mobile data to open Google Maps links and read the background stories in your PDF guide.
Yes, you can. It’s a self-guided experience, so you decide the pace. However, some days are unavailable because a few key vendors are closed. On those days, you can still explore the market and about 60% of the stalls will be open, but not the full curated route. Always check the availability calendar when booking.
If you’re vegetarian, you’re good — about six out of eight stops have vegetarian options. If you’re vegan or gluten-free, this tour is probably not ideal. Many Dutch and market snacks rely on butter, eggs and wheat, and suitable alternatives are limited. We prefer being honest so you have the best possible experience.
No, experience is not required. But you do need to be comfortable taking charge of your own experience. That includes reading the instructions, navigating with Google Maps, ordering from vendors and making small choices along the way. With a guided food tour, someone else does this for you. Here, you’re the one exploring — which is part of the fun.
Usually around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on how fast you eat and wander. Walking time is short — around 15–20 minutes total.
The tour takes place mainly in De Pijp and along the famous Albert Cuyp Market. You’ll try a mix of Dutch classics and international street foods such as a croquette, fresh herring, kibbeling, a Surinamese tasting bowl, a Mediterranean sandwich, poffertjes, a famous stroopwafel, Osaka-style takoyaki and Dutch fries. We keep some stops a surprise — that’s part of the experience.
Groups of 1–8 people are ideal. Bigger groups are welcome but might need to wait a bit longer because most partners are small, family-run stalls.
You could, of course. But it takes time to research, compare and choose authentic places you can trust. We’ve done all that for you. As locals, we picked the hidden gems Amsterdammers actually love, not the overhyped TikTok spots. We interviewed each vendor so your PDF includes background stories about the food, the people and the neighbourhood that you won’t find online. You also get exclusive deals such as smaller tasting portions or small discounts that aren’t available to regular visitors. It’s a fully curated experience without the guesswork.
No worries. The stops are close together and the food tastes just as good under an umbrella. Rain is pretty much part of the Amsterdam lifestyle.
