About Who Is amsterdam tours

At Who Is Amsterdam Tours, Amsterdam is not just a city, it is home.
We share it with you the way locals share their favourite bar: with stories, heart, and zero tourist fluff.

The team of Who Is Amsterdam Tours

Hoi! (Dutch for “Hi”)

It is all in the name: Who Is Amsterdam.

For us, the answer is not “a list of sights” or “a history timeline”.
Amsterdam is people.

The locals who grew up on these canals.
The newcomers who brought their stories here.
And yes, you too, even if you are only in town for one day and still figuring out the tram system.

Our goal is simple:
We help you not just see Amsterdam, but actually connect with it and feel what it is like to live here.

We are a group of locals who live, breathe, and love this city.
We are also travellers ourselves, which means we know how it feels to land somewhere new, with limited time and a secret hope that you will have one experience that stays with you for years.

That is the space our tours live in.

You get a guide who knows the city, yes.
But you also get a storyteller, a conversation, and a few “oh, nobody told us this part” moments.

At Who Is Amsterdam Tours, we treat Amsterdam like a story, not a checklist.
Our highly rated walking tours are not long lectures about “in 1625…” while your legs fall asleep.

Alexandra

Founder, Guide and Storyteller

Hi, I’m Alexandra.

I used to sit in sales meetings talking targets while my heart was already wandering the canals collecting stories. So I quit corporate life and started Who Is Amsterdam Tours to do what I actually care about: connecting visitors with the real, human Amsterdam.

I’m a storyteller with a soft spot for humour, spoken-word moments and the tiny details that make you fall for a city.

When I’m not guiding, I’m probably eating strawberries, yelling at a football match (calmly, of course), scribbling spoken word, or disappearing into nature to reset.

If we meet on a tour, my goal is simple: you leave feeling like you’ve met Amsterdam — and like we could easily grab a drink and keep talking.

Guide and Storyteller

Hello there! I am Silver, born and raised in the heart of Amsterdam, a stone’s throw away from Dam Square. I have always loved talking to people, especially those from around the world, which makes me a very passionate guide. I’m sometimes a little chaotic, but that’s also part of the charm 😉

I love playing guitar, cooking food for my loved ones and being a bit of a nutter. If you want to experience Amsterdam through the eyes of a local, you have come to the right place.

Hey, I’m Peter!
I’m originally from London, but have lived a little all over the world, from Paris to Dakar to Khartoum and Melbourne. I settled in Amsterdam in 2017 to pursue my PhD in Anthropology and quickly fell in love with this magical city!

Being an Anthropologist, I have a passion for Humans: their cultures, their stories, their habits, and their contradictions! Exploring the city, discovering what makes its inhabitants tick, how society functions, and sharing with others how those humans make the city of Amsterdam what it is, makes being a guide in Amsterdam a dream job for me. Join me for a tour and let’s explore together!

Cara

Cara

Private guide and guest Amsterdammer on Humans of Amsterdam Tour

Hi, I’m Cara.
I feel incredibly fortunate to be a true Amsterdam local—born here, raised here, and (happily) never left.
For many years, I worked in international motorsports, traveling the world for around 20 weeks each year. Yet every time I returned home, I found myself thinking the same thing: how beautiful Amsterdam truly is.
That thought inspired me to become a city guide.
In my tours, I combine the rich history of Amsterdam with my own personal experiences, offering a unique perspective on what the city once was, what it has become, and what it’s really like to live here. Through my eyes as a true local, I hope you’ll see Amsterdam in a way that goes beyond the usual sights.

Guide and Storyteller

Hey, my name is Robert, I’m from Germany and moved to Amsterdam 2 years ago for my Master. After recently graduating, I realised I fell in love with this city and want to keep calling it my home. The whole home part isn’t that easy though – I’ve stayed in 5 different places this past year!

Outside of giving tours, I follow my love for storytelling by going to all the beautiful arthouse cinemas we have in Amsterdam. Other than that you’ll often find me playing Ultimate Frisbee for the one and only Amsterdam student team, NUTS!

Huibert

Huibert

Guide and storyteller

Hi I’m Huibert. I’m originally from Rotterdam, but Amsterdam has been my home and playground as a guide for more than 20 years.

I studied history and graphic design, and I love finding the stories and little details that make a place suddenly come alive. I guide introduction tours, Jewish history tours, the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum, as well as custom-made experiences.

For me, a great tour is about connection: between history and today, between people and places — and hopefully between you and Amsterdam.
