What You’ll Actually Do

• Lead walking tours through Amsterdam (mostly Hello Amsterdam & Humans of Amsterdam)
• Tell stories that make people feel something
• Hold a group with warmth, humour, and confidence
• Create a space where strangers connect — with the city and with each other
• Answer questions, improvise, read the room, adapt the pace
• Be yourself (this is not a performance of “generic tour guide #7”)

Who You Are (Let’s Be Real)

• Lives in or around Amsterdam and knows the city beyond Google
• Loves storytelling more than memorising scripts
• Fluent in English and/or German
• Can lead a group without needing to dominate it
• Has opinions, empathy, and good people radar
• Enjoys interaction, not monologues
• Can handle curious questions, mixed groups, and the occasional rainstorm

You do not need to be a walking encyclopedia.
Curiosity + connection > perfection.

Experience

• Guiding experience is great (but not mandatory)
• Backgrounds we love: storytelling, theatre, teaching, journalism, hospitality, social sciences, history, tourism, psychology, life
• If people naturally listen when you talk — you’re already halfway there

Practical Stuff

• Freelance basis
• Tours mostly run daytime / early evening
• Paid per tour (details shared after first contact)
• Training & onboarding included — you won’t be thrown to the canals and told “good luck”
