Ride like you live here.
Meet Black Bikes, the pioneer of the”Hop-on and Drop-off” concept in Amsterdam. Ride like a local and drop it off — anywhere you want.

What's it All About?
Black Bikes is part of the Amsterdam-based “Het Zwarte Fietsenplan” bike stores. In 2005, they grew from a single store to 16 branches in Amsterdam alone. How, you ask? Well, excellent service to start with. Plus the convenience of 19 locations across Amsterdam and the only “Hop-on and Drop-off” concept. Add on an assortment of high-quality bikes — handbrakes, the classic oma fiets (pedal brake), cargo and even a clog — you’ll find everything you need here. They believe that visitors of Amsterdam deserve to experience our city of freedom on a Dutch hand-built black bike. So hop on and become one of us.

“We have been to Amsterdam many times, but it has never been easier to rent a bike here! The best part is: you can pick up a bicycle at one station and return it at another. The staff is very helpful and the whole rental service is easy and fast. Make sure to rent a bike here if you’re staying in Amsterdam for a few days! You can only really experience this city on a (black) bicycle.”

“We were looking for bike rental companies that we could pick up and drop off at different locations around Amsterdam, and the only one we could find was Black-Bikes. Dropping off the bikes was also very simple. It’s a great experience cycling around the city like a local, and we would definitely recommend Black-Bikes.”

“Black-Bikes have spots all over the city making it easy to find one near you. The bikes are in good shape and well maintained. The staff is very helpful when deciding where you should set off on your adventure. Definitely recommend!

WIA Family
The folks behind Het Zwarte Fietsenplan bicycle stores started in 2004 as a B2B leasing company. Every day, locals would drop by their shop and office to ask if they could get their bikes fixed. So it kickstarted their first classic bike store in 2005. To this day, they’ve repaired more than 300,000 bikes — excluding those they rent out. But they’re not just “cycle-therapists”. From the start, they’ve been working together with a company that helps people on their paths to recovery. In all Dutch directness, it’s because they didn’t have the budget for high-end mechanics at first. Now they’re family and it’s been a joy to give people from all walks of life purpose and a space to learn new skills and connect with others. This is why we’re proud that they’re part of our WIA family.
